Arizona represented at the World Leadership Congress

Arizona’s WLC Delegation: from L to R (Evelyn Valenzuela, WLC Alternate – Peoria HS, Kelsey O’Meara, WLC Ambassador – Boulder Creek HS, Ramsey Carroll, WLC Ambassador – Desert Vista HS, E. Hyrum Dyches, WLC Alternate – Mountain View HS) Upon their return, Arizona’s World Leadership Congress delegates traditionally meet with Governor Janet Napolitano to share their experiences at the WLC.

A group of Arizona high school students, selected from the HOBY Arizona Leadership Seminar, will represent Arizona at the annual World Leadership Congress (WLC) in Washington, D.C. Student “ambassadors” from around the United States and more than a dozen foreign countries will come together at The George Washington University for nearly two weeks in July. The WLC provides training in leadership skills and capacity building. Students are exposed to a distinguished group of leaders from various sectors in business, government, international affairs, science and technology, medicine, media, and education. The conference is divided into educational sessions involving panel discussions with question-and-answer periods, interactive workshops, training exercises, focus groups, and individualized trainings. HOBY's student ambassadors leave the WLC more mature individuals, more aware of the world around them, and more empowered to make meaningful contributions to their communities.
